Transport commissioner flags Off road safety awareness rally at Ranbir Higher Secondary school

Jammu, January 16: As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month, Transport Commissioner of J&K, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, flagged off a Road Safety Awareness Rally at Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu. The rally, organized in collaboration with the School Education Department and Traffic Department, aimed to raise awareness about road safety measures among students and the general public.

The event was attended by key officials, including SSP Traffic Faisal Qureshi, RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, Joint Transport Commissioner Vinay Samotra, Chief Education Officer Jagdeep Padha, Principal Kishore Sharma, ARTO HQ Jammu Rehana Tabassum, along with RTO officials and students from the school.

Addressing the students, Transport Commissioner Mahajan stressed the critical importance of adhering to road safety norms, such as wearing seat belts and helmets, to prevent injuries in accidents. He also cautioned students against underage driving, emphasizing that such actions could have serious legal consequences for their parents and tarnish their reputation.

Mahajan further directed school principals to ensure that two-wheelers are not allowed within school premises, highlighting the risk posed to student safety.

Other officials also addressed the gathering, underscoring the significance of road safety awareness and encouraging responsible behavior on the roads.

The event concluded with a pledge taken by all participants to follow road safety rules and spread the message to others, marking an important step in fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among the youth. In addition, a road safety pledge was administered at the beginning of the event, followed by a two-minute silence in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in road accidents.
