Kashmir Ahead

Tourist footfall surges in Srinagar amid pleasant weather

Srinagar, April 5,2026- The scenic Kashmir Valley is witnessing a noticeable surge in tourist footfall as fresh rainfall has ushered in pleasant weather, enhancing the region’s natural charm and attracting visitors from across the country.

Following intermittent showers over the past few days, the temperature across Kashmir Valley has dipped, creating a refreshing atmosphere. The rains have not only settled dust and improved air quality but also revitalized the landscape, turning gardens, meadows, and water bodies into vibrant attractions for tourists.

Popular destinations such as Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and the hill resort of Gulmarg are witnessing increased visitor activity. Shikara rides on Dal Lake have picked up pace, while lush green surroundings post-rainfall are drawing photographers and nature lovers alike.

Tourism stakeholders, including hoteliers and travel operators, have reported a steady rise in bookings, especially for weekend getaways. Many tourists have expressed delight over the cool climate, which offers a welcome escape from rising temperatures in the plains.

“We planned our trip to Kashmir hoping for pleasant weather, and the rains have made it even more beautiful. The greenery and fresh air are simply unmatched,” said a tourist visiting from Delhi.

Officials from the tourism department noted that such weather conditions play a crucial role in boosting tourism, particularly during the spring and early summer months. The improved climatic conditions are also expected to sustain tourist inflow in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, local businesses—including handicraft sellers, guides, and transport operators—are benefiting from the increased tourist activity, contributing to the region’s economy.

With forecasts indicating continued mild temperatures and occasional showers, the Kashmir Valley is poised to remain a preferred destination for travelers seeking natural beauty and pleasant weather.
