‘They Took My Father at Gunpoint at 3 AM’: Baramulla Terror Victim’s Story In 2004, militants killed many in Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recalled one family member of a terror victim residing in Baramulla. At that time I was 11 years old studying in class 4. On the night the incident took place around 3 am, I was at home along with three brothers and my sister and mother. People came from outside, forced my father out and fired a couple of shots. I was 11 years old, my brothers were seven, five and one even younger by four years. Mother worked hard to raise us. She approached many for help but everyone only gave advice but real help nobody offered. Only when the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha came, it got a little better here. He made the announcement of handing appointment letters to Next of Kin of terror victims and we were very happy to hear it on our mobiles, said the family member. We are grateful to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saheb that he has done such work, such work has never been done 10 to 15 years ago. Our mother is very happy and so are our brothers. With the promise of a livelihood, we can progress a little. We are very grateful to our LG Saheb, he has done a great job by placing his hand on our head. Many houses would get inhabited, many were not even getting food, he did a very good job. We will bless him, he did a great job in Kashmir, said the next of kin of a terror victim martyred in Baramulla, J&K.
