Tawi Filmotsava: Promoting Short Films and Local Talent in Jammu & Kashmir’s Cultural Revival

Tawi Filmotsava: Promoting Short Films and Local Talent in Jammu & Kashmir’s Cultural Revival. The technological advancements have greatly helped local new film producers, actors and professionals from various fields of film in promoting the rich and vibrant cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and other important social issues. This is the first film festival dedicated to promoting short films and local talent, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha in his address at Tawi Filmotsava. As we all know, cinema is an effective medium of education, and is also a powerful agent of social change. In this small film festival, many efforts have been shown towards the new Jammu Kashmir, the ancient culture of Udhampur, our spiritual heritage and awakening people against drug addiction. I want our local talents and film professionals to maintain a balance between entertainment and social concerns and use this powerful medium as much as possible for the benefit of society. I believe that the biggest challenge of today is the balance between entertainment and social responsibility. Apart from short films, if you consider big films of the entertainment world, I am happy that it has succeeded in re-establishing itself after facing difficulties in film production in Jammu Kashmir. The work which had stopped due to peace for a long time, the efforts of the administration to bring peace in the last five years have made Jammu Kashmir more attractive and desirable for shooting Hindi, regional and foreign films. In four years, more than three hundred and seventy three films and web series have been shot in Jammu and Kashmir. This has provided employment to local youth and the youth here have also got the opportunity to work with big productions. I am sure that what the youth and artists here were unable to do in the last three decades is now being accomplished. And the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are also fulfilling their duty by connecting with the aspirations of the nation. I believe that the new generation born after 1979, which we call Gen Z, is very fortunate in many ways.In Jammu & Kashmir, the 21 year old youth is witnessing the historic change for which efforts have been made since independence. Before their eyes, such economic and social transformation has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir which was perhaps difficult to imagine before 2019. Whether it is Kashmir Valley or Jammu, the system of discrimination has ended to a great extent in both the regions. In such cities of Kashmir valley where the dreams of youth were getting shattered, such an environment has been created due to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that the youth of the old generation used to feel satisfied by watching it on TV, now they are living that environment themselves. Now he is breathing in the open air, living his life according to his wish and following his passion without any fear,. I have seen and felt the profound impact of various styles of art on society. But cinema has a unique impact and it has helped raise awareness about many social evils, which I think is amazing. I would like our youth to develop their creativity so that it can help us in eliminating social evils like drug addiction from the society so that their creative talent can be used for good work which can change the lives of others, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha in his address at Tawi Filmostav. #kashmir #film #entertainmentvideo #lgmanojsinha
