Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s dream realised with abrogation Of Article 370: Amit Shah

Kashmir, June 23,2026- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the abrogation of Article 370 marked the fulfilment of the vision and sacrifice of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who had strongly opposed the provision granting special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a gathering, Shah stated that the removal of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, ended decades of constitutional ambiguity and paved the way for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. He remarked that Dr. Mookerjee had dedicated his life to the principle of “One Nation, One Constitution” and that his long-cherished dream was ultimately realised through the historic decision taken by the Government of India.

The Home Minister highlighted the significant changes witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. According to Shah, the region has seen notable improvements in infrastructure development, investment, tourism, education, healthcare, and public welfare schemes. He said that constitutional rights and central laws are now being implemented uniformly, ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens.

Shah further noted that democratic institutions have been strengthened in the Union Territory, with grassroots governance receiving a boost through local body and panchayat-level initiatives. He emphasized that peace, development, and transparency have become key pillars of governance in the region.

Recalling Dr. Mookerjee’s contribution to national unity, Shah said his vision continues to inspire efforts aimed at strengthening India’s unity and integrity. He added that the government’s commitment remains focused on accelerating development and improving the quality of life for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The abrogation of Article 370 remains one of the most significant constitutional decisions in recent Indian history. Supporters view it as a step toward national integration and development, while it continues to be a subject of political debate and discussion.

As Jammu and Kashmir witnesses rapid infrastructural growth and increasing economic activity, the government maintains that the region is progressing on a path of peace, prosperity, and inclusive development, reflecting the aspirations envisioned by Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee decades ago.
