SVEEP drive in Udhampur for Panchayat roll revision 2026

Udhampur, April 4, 2026- In a significant step towards strengthening grassroots democracy, District Election Officer (DEO) Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, flagged off a SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) awareness van to enhance voter education and participation across the district.

The initiative has been launched in view of the upcoming Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision scheduled from March 27 to April 29, 2026, under the supervision of the State Election Commission. The SVEEP awareness van will travel across various पंचायत areas, disseminating crucial information regarding voter registration, corrections, and updates in electoral rolls.

Speaking on the occasion, the DEO emphasized the importance of inclusive and participative elections at the grassroots level. He highlighted that ensuring every eligible citizen is enrolled in the electoral roll is fundamental to a vibrant democratic system. The campaign aims to reach remote and rural populations, ensuring that no eligible voter is left behind.

As part of the drive, special voter facilitation camps will be organized across all blocks of Udhampur district. These camps will provide on-the-spot services for new voter registrations, correction of existing entries, and updating of voter details. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and election staff will be deployed to assist citizens throughout the process.

The SVEEP campaign will also focus on spreading awareness through community engagement, local outreach programmes, and information dissemination using audio-visual tools. The initiative is expected to significantly improve voter awareness, especially among first-time voters, women, and marginalized communities.

The move reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring transparent, inclusive, and participatory elections at the Panchayat level. By encouraging greater public involvement, the district aims to strengthen democratic values and empower citizens to actively take part in the electoral process.
