KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 11: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kore Punnu today organized a series of voter awareness activities under the SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation) programme. These activities aimed to educate and encourage voter participation ahead of the upcoming elections.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities, including a skit on the Importance of Voting, a signature campaign, a quiz competition, and a mega awareness rally with 200 students. Booth awareness groups from the surrounding area also joined the rally, enhancing the outreach and impact of the initiative.
In a special initiative titled Each One Reach Fifty, GHSS Kore Punnu and GMS Salalpur encouraged students to personally engage with voters in their communities. Each student was tasked with approaching 50 voters in their neighborhood to remind them about the upcoming poll day and encourage them to vote. This grassroots initiative is designed to create a ripple effect of voter awareness and participation through direct interaction with the community.
Additionally, 400 students from GHSS Kore Punnu took a Voters’ Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the democratic process and their responsibility as future voters. Other schools also contributed to the voter awareness efforts: GHSS Marheen created a Wall of Democracy where students posted messages promoting voter participation, while GHS Mela organized its own signature campaign to further strengthen voter awareness.
