Srinagar’s 1.5 million residents to benefit from Rangil Water Supply Project

Srinagar, March 18, 2025: The Rangil Water Supply Project is set to significantly improve the water supply situation for Srinagar’s 1.5 million residents. The project, aimed at providing clean and reliable drinking water, will address the growing demand for water in the region, particularly during the summer months when water scarcity is a common issue.

The project, which is being implemented by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Health Engineering Department, will source water from the Rangil River. Once completed, the initiative will ensure that the residents of Srinagar have access to 24/7 potable water, improving the overall quality of life for the city’s population.

The Rangil Water Supply Project includes the construction of new water treatment plants, pipelines, and reservoirs, as well as improvements to existing infrastructure. The project is expected to enhance the city’s water distribution system, ensuring that all areas, including underserved and remote neighbourhoods, will benefit from this vital resource.

This project is a significant step towards addressing the city’s long-standing water supply challenges and aligns with the government’s broader efforts to improve basic infrastructure and living conditions for the people of Srinagar.
