Srinagar, December 29,2025— Srinagar is set to get its first state-of-the-art school for specially-abled children in the Kashmir division, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar announced on Tuesday.
The proposed institution aims to provide inclusive, barrier-free and specialised education to children with disabilities, equipped with modern learning facilities, assistive technologies, trained special educators, and therapeutic support services. The initiative marks a major step towards strengthening inclusive education infrastructure in the region.
The DC stated that the school will cater to children with different physical and intellectual needs, ensuring a supportive environment that promotes learning, skill development, and dignity. Emphasis will be laid on early intervention, vocational training, and holistic development of students.
Officials said the project aligns with the government’s vision of accessible education for all, and will help bridge long-standing gaps in educational opportunities for specially-abled children in Kashmir.
