Srinagar SARAS Aajeevika Mela boosting employment of women artisans

A women’s Haat was organised under the UMEED scheme, an initiative of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission in Srinagar. SARAS Aajeevika Fair was held from March 15 to March 25, 2023. Women artisans from all over India participated in the fair. They put up their handmade products at the stalls. The fair provided an opportunity to women to showcase their talent to the world. A group of around 10 women join Self Help Groups to hand produce items like pickles, baskets, kurtas, etc. Many women have come from different states with their art, craft and talent at the fair. The women of Jammu and Kashmir are using their hands-on skills to boost their employment. The Jammu and Kashmir government has always been proactive. The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha’s administration has always promoted women and given them a chance so that there should not be any hindrance for women in coming forward in any field, said women participants. And all women should take advantage of the scheme to fly high.
