Srinagar, November 25, 2025:Srinagar woke up to a thick blanket of fog on Monday, settling heavily over the iconic Dal Lake and significantly reducing visibility across the city. The dense fog, coupled with a sharp drop in temperatures, marked another spell of intensifying cold wave conditions gripping the Kashmir Valley.
The early morning mist disrupted routine movement along the Boulevard Road and adjoining areas, with commuters forced to drive cautiously due to low visibility. Houseboat owners and shikarawalas reported that the chilling air and moisture-laden fog had also slowed tourist activity during the early hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, minimum temperatures continued to plunge below normal across several parts of the Valley, with Srinagar recording one of the coldest mornings of the season. Officials attributed the persistent fog to moisture accumulation and prolonged dry weather, noting that the cold wave is likely to tighten its grip further in the coming days.
Residents across the region have begun relying more heavily on traditional heating systems such as kangris, while authorities have advised people to stay cautious during morning and evening hours when visibility remains the lowest.
