Srinagar prepares for heavy rainfall

Srinagar, April 25,2026- Persistent heavy rainfall continued to lash Srinagar on Saturday, disrupting normal life and causing waterlogging in several low-lying areas of the city.

According to officials, continuous showers since early morning have led to traffic congestion, inundated roads, and slower movement across key routes. Commuters faced difficulties navigating through waterlogged streets, while public transport services were also affected in parts of the city.

The rainfall has brought down temperatures, offering a temporary respite from recent warmer conditions, but has also raised concerns over drainage and urban flooding, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated with weather advisories. Emergency response teams have been kept on alert to deal with any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted continued rainfall over the next 24 hours, advising people, especially those living in flood-prone areas, to take necessary precautions.

Despite the challenges, the rains have added to the scenic charm of the Valley, with mist-covered landscapes and overcast skies enveloping Srinagar.
