Srinagar, November 8,2025: The Srinagar-Leh Highway, a crucial lifeline connecting the Kashmir Valley with Ladakh, has been reopened for vehicular traffic, restoring a vital route for transport, trade, and tourism.
Officials from the Border Roads Organisation confirmed that the stretch was cleared after successful snow clearance and safety inspections, ensuring smooth passage for light motor vehicles in the initial phase. The reopening brings major relief to residents, traders, and tourists who depend on this strategic route for essential supplies and travel.
The Srinagar-Leh Highway, which passes through the picturesque Zojila Pass, had been temporarily closed due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution while traveling, as some stretches remain slippery and prone to sudden weather changes.
The restoration of traffic marks a significant step in maintaining year-round connectivity, supporting economic activity and tourism between Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
