Srinagar job fair sees strong youth participation

Srinagar, March 24,2026- The Department of Labour & Employment organized a one-day job fair in Srinagar, witnessing an encouraging turnout of nearly 1,000–1,500 young job seekers from across the district. The initiative aimed at connecting aspiring candidates with potential employers while promoting employment and self-reliance among the youth.

Several reputed companies and private sector employers participated in the fair, offering opportunities across multiple sectors. Around 50–60 candidates were shortlisted on the spot for further recruitment processes, reflecting the effectiveness of the event in bridging the gap between job providers and job seekers.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar highlighted the importance of such initiatives in tackling unemployment and empowering youth. He emphasized that government schemes like Mission Yuva and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) are playing a crucial role in promoting self-employment by providing subsidies, financial assistance, and skill-based training.

Officials stated that apart from job placements, the fair also served as an awareness platform where youth were informed about various government schemes, entrepreneurship opportunities, and skill development programmes. The focus remained on encouraging young individuals to explore both employment and self-employment avenues.

Participants expressed optimism and appreciation for the initiative, noting that such job fairs create direct access to recruiters and reduce the challenges of job hunting. Many also showed interest in availing benefits under Mission Yuva and HADP to start their own ventures.

The Department reiterated its commitment to organizing more such employment drives in the future to ensure sustained engagement with youth and to strengthen the employment ecosystem in the region.
