Srinagar, June 19, 2025 – Akshay Labroo, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Srinagar, chaired an introductory meeting with sectoral and district officers at the DC Office Complex on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The meeting focused on fostering inter-departmental coordination to ensure the holistic, well-planned, and timely implementation of developmental projects across the district.
Labroo, an IAS officer of the 2018 Tripura cadre and the first Kashmiri Pandit to serve as DC Srinagar, stressed the importance of seamless collaboration among departments to drive progress. “Close coordination is key to achieving our developmental goals. We must work together to ensure projects are executed efficiently and benefit the people of Srinagar.
The meeting, attended by key district and sectoral officers, marked Labroo’s first official engagement since assuming charge on June 17, 2025, succeeding Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, who was transferred to Budgam. Labroo’s appointment has garnered attention, with the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) extending their support and expressing confidence in his leadership to advance peace, development, and prosperity in Srinagar
Labroo’s agenda included reviewing ongoing and upcoming developmental initiatives, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in project execution. His prior experience as DC Budgam and Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Srinagar has been lauded, with colleagues describing him as an “honest, dedicated, and no-nonsense officer.”
The Srinagar administration is also involved in broader initiatives, such as the short-term review of the Srinagar Master Plan 2035, where Labroo, as DC, is a member of a high-level committee led by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. This underscores his pivotal role in shaping the district’s urban and developmental landscape.
As Srinagar welcomes its new DC, residents and stakeholders are optimistic about Labroo’s vision for a progressive and well-coordinated administration. His leadership is expected to strengthen developmental efforts, ensuring timely and impactful implementation of projects for the district’s growth.
