Srinagar, November 30,2025 – In a major boost for tourism and year-round connectivity in Kashmir, Srinagar Airport is expected to see no more flight cancellations this winter following the installation of an upgraded Instrument Landing System .
The upgraded ILS significantly enhances the airport’s operational capability during adverse weather conditions. Previously, aircraft required a minimum visibility of 1,200 metres to land safely at Srinagar Airport. With the new system, landings can now be safely carried out with visibility as low as 400 metres, minimizing disruptions due to fog or poor weather.
Officials say the upgrade will not only reduce flight cancellations but also strengthen Kashmir’s tourism sector, ensuring seamless travel for both domestic and international visitors throughout the year.
This development is expected to provide a major boost to connectivity, tourism, and the local economy in Jammu & Kashmir, offering a reliable air travel experience even during harsh winter conditions.
