Srinagar, November 2,2025: In a major step to strengthen the fight against drug abuse, the Srinagar District Administration organised a training programme for school and college teachers under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aims to equip educators with essential skills for student counselling, early intervention, and awareness on drug prevention.
Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo inaugurated the programme, highlighting the crucial role of teachers as ambassadors in the campaign against drug abuse. He emphasised that teachers, through their close interaction with students, can identify early signs of distress and guide youth towards positive, healthy lifestyles.
The DC urged educators to work collectively with parents, law enforcement agencies, and social organisations to build a drug-free ecosystem across schools and colleges in Srinagar.
Experts from the health and education departments conducted sessions on psychological counselling techniques, community engagement, and peer awareness, focusing on empowering teachers to act as the first line of defense against substance abuse among students.
The training is part of a sustained district-wide effort to promote the message of “Say No to Drugs” and ensure that educational institutions become safe, supportive spaces for youth development.
