Katra, June 9, 2026- In a significant relief for devotees planning to undertake a spiritual journey on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya, a special train has been approved to operate between Katra and Haridwar, facilitating convenient travel for pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir and adjoining regions.
The special service has been introduced in view of the anticipated surge in pilgrim movement during Somvati Amavasya, an auspicious occasion in the Hindu calendar that draws large numbers of devotees to holy sites, particularly Haridwar, for ritual bathing in the Ganga and religious observances.
Railway authorities stated that the special train will help accommodate the increased passenger demand and ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for devotees traveling from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi base town of Katra to the renowned pilgrimage destination of Haridwar.
The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of pilgrims by providing additional transportation capacity during the festive period. Authorities have urged passengers to check train schedules, reservation details, and travel advisories before commencing their journey.
