Katra, December 15,2025-More than 1,600 passengers travelled on two special trains operating between Katra and New Delhi, highlighting the strong demand for rail connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir and the national capital.
The special train services were introduced to accommodate increased passenger movement, particularly pilgrims, tourists, and travellers heading to and from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi base town of Katra. Railway officials said the response to the special services was encouraging, reflecting growing travel confidence and improved connectivity.
Passengers appreciated the smooth journey, timely departures, and enhanced facilities, noting that special trains help ease congestion during peak travel periods. The initiative also aims to provide relief to waiting lists and ensure comfortable travel options for long-distance commuters.
The operation of special Katra–New Delhi trains underscores the Indian Railways’ commitment to improving passenger convenience and strengthening links between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country.
