Udhampur, July 8, 2025 – Harnam Prasad, a 21-year-old from Jas Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, has captured the attention of devotees nationwide with his remarkable 7,000 km solo Kawar Yatra. Starting from Gawri Ghat in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Prasad is on a spiritual journey to offer holy water at two of India’s most revered shrines: Rameshwar Jyotirling in Tamil Nadu and the Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir.After 105 days of travel, Prasad has reached Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, carrying sacred water in a traditional kanwar to offer at the holy sites. His journey, which began with unwavering faith, has become a symbol of devotion and resilience. Despite the challenges of traveling such a vast distance alone, Prasad remains undeterred, urging fellow devotees to participate in the Amarnath Yatra without fear.In a statement shared via a post on X, Prasad praised the exceptional arrangements made by the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration and the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB). He highlighted the robust security measures, seamless coordination, and facilities like medical camps, sanitation units, and police assistance booths along the Amarnath Yatra routes. “The UT Administration has ensured everything is in place for a safe and smooth pilgrimage. Devotees should join the Yatra with full faith,” he said.The Amarnath Yatra 2025, which began on July 3 and will conclude on August 9, has already seen over 94,000 pilgrims visit the sacred Amarnath Cave, located at 3,880 meters in the south Kashmir Himalayas. The pilgrimage, accessible via the 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route and the shorter 14-km Baltal route, is supported by a multi-tier security cover, including 180 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 30 more than in previous years.
Prasad’s solo journey stands out amidst the large-scale pilgrimage, as he carries the spiritual weight of his mission across thousands of kilometers. His Kawar Yatra not only reflects personal devotion but also underscores the enduring significance of these sacred journeys in connecting devotees to their faith. The Rameshwar Jyotirling, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and the Amarnath Cave, known for its naturally formed ice Shivling, are among India’s holiest pilgrimage sites.As Prasad continues his arduous trek, his message resonates with thousands: faith transcends fear, and the divine call of the Yatra remains stronger than ever.
