Kashmir, February 11,2026-In a significant step towards strengthening welfare support for the armed forces community, the Lieutenant Governor’s administration has reinforced the role of the Sainik Sahayta Kendra (SSK) to provide timely assistance to soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families across Jammu & Kashmir.
The initiative aims to streamline grievance redressal, ensure speedy delivery of benefits, and offer dedicated support to families of serving personnel and martyrs. Officials said the move reflects the administration’s continued commitment to honouring the sacrifices of the armed forces and addressing their concerns with sensitivity and urgency.
Dedicated Support System for Armed Forces
The Sainik Sahayta Kendra functions as a single-window facilitation centre to assist with issues related to pensions, financial aid, rehabilitation schemes, educational support for children, healthcare benefits, and employment opportunities for dependents.
Under the Lieutenant Governor’s directions, the Kendra has enhanced coordination with district administrations and concerned departments to ensure faster resolution of pending cases. Special outreach drives are also being conducted to raise awareness among ex-servicemen and Veer Naris about the various welfare schemes available to them.
Focus on Welfare and Rehabilitation
Officials stated that special emphasis is being laid on providing financial assistance to families of martyred soldiers, ensuring timely pension disbursement, and facilitating scholarships for children of armed forces personnel. Skill development and self-employment schemes are also being promoted to support rehabilitation and long-term stability.
The strengthened mechanism is expected to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and make services more accessible, particularly in remote areas of the Union Territory.
A Commitment to Those Who Serve
The initiative has been widely welcomed by veterans and families, who see it as a proactive step towards acknowledging their service and sacrifices. By institutionalizing structured support through the Sainik Sahayta Kendra, the administration seeks to build a responsive and compassionate system dedicated to the welfare of soldiers and their families.
The move underscores the government’s resolve to stand firmly with the armed forces community, ensuring that their contributions are honoured not just in words, but through meaningful action.
