Jammu, December 9,2025: The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu on Friday hosted the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 – Software Edition, serving as a national nodal centre for one of the country’s largest innovation-driven competitions.
A total of 20 shortlisted teams representing nine states participated in the finale at IIT Jammu, where 120 student innovators worked round-the-clock to solve four challenges presented by the National Technical Research Organisation . These problem statements focused on strengthening digital security, national intelligence capabilities, and advanced software solutions.
Senior officials, including Dr. Piyush Singla and Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, visited the participating teams and motivated the students to continue innovating for India’s digital transformation. They applauded the energy and creativity of young innovators and emphasized the importance of developing indigenous technological solutions for national priorities.
Organised under the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and the All India Council for Technical Education , the Smart India Hackathon aims to harness youth-driven innovation to address real-world challenges. IIT Jammu ensured a fully equipped, inspiring environment with technical support, mentoring sessions, and state-of-the-art facilities for the participants throughout the event.
Officials from IIT Jammu said the institute remains committed to supporting startups, research excellence, and emerging technologies, reinforcing its role in promoting innovation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
