Srinagar, April 8, 2025 – Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir has launched a new online admission portal designed to simplify the application process for prospective students. The user-friendly platform, inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai at the university’s Shalimar campus, aims to streamline access to undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the 2025 academic session.
The portal, accessible at the university’s official website, offers an intuitive interface that allows applicants to register, submit documents, and track their application status with ease. This initiative reflects SKUAST-K’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance accessibility and transparency in higher education. “Our goal is to make the admission process as smooth as possible, ensuring that students from all backgrounds can pursue their academic aspirations without unnecessary hurdles,” said Prof. Ganai during the launch event.
Key features of the portal include real-time updates, secure payment options for the application fee (set at INR 1800), and comprehensive guidance on eligibility criteria for various courses, such as B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.VSc & AH, M.Tech, and MFSc. The platform also supports applicants by providing clear instructions for entrance exams like the SKUAST Kashmir University Entrance Test (UET), which determines admission to most programs.
This development aligns with SKUAST-K’s broader mission to foster innovation in agricultural education. The university, approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), has introduced modernized curricula and programs like B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Agriculture, catering to evolving industry demands. The portal is expected to attract a diverse pool of candidates, including those from remote areas, by reducing logistical barriers.
Students and faculty have welcomed the initiative, praising its potential to save time and reduce paperwork. “The portal is straightforward and easy to navigate. It’s a big step toward making education more inclusive,” said Ayesha, a prospective undergraduate student.
SKUAST-K continues to prioritise student welfare, as evidenced by recent efforts like the establishment of a Mental Health Counselling Cell and the adoption of the ICAR-6th Dean Committee Curriculum. With the new admission portal, the university reinforces its reputation as a forward-thinking institution dedicated to academic excellence and student success.
