SKIMS Saves Lives Every Day: LG Manoj Sinha Highlights J&K’s Healthcare Transformation Today, you all are fortunate to be among the best medical institutions in India and you all have the honour of representing one of them that is, SKIMS, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. I appreciate your dedication, sacrifice and service to this country and the Jammu and Kashmir region. And I am confident that highly skilled professionals like you will definitely build a healthy society and a strong nation in the future. It is important to mention that while the rest of the country was grappling with the challenges of the country, a decision taken by us in September to set up oxygen plants may not have been taken by many states of the country. On its side, Jammu and Kashmir’s capacity was 14,000 LPM in 2020, which later increased to 1,27,271 LPM. In the second wave, there were generally very few such complaints that those who needed oxygen did not get beds. I, along with others were also monitoring. And because of this, many lives were saved. The Government’s approach is to ensure affordable and fast service over the last five years. Good work has been done. The medical community and the general public need to know that many people have worked hard to make Jammu and Kashmir one of the best places for healthcare. You all have many new achievements to achieve on that glorious figure. New peaks to be created. Skills have also been articulated in the last year; you are providing health services to 45 to 50,000 people every day. If we look at the figures for the year, more than 3 lakh emergency visits and 25 thousand surgeries, this is a huge figure. Disaster Management Ward has been expanded. I myself am a witness to the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. I had also gone there, LG said. The helipad service has been started for many devotees. Many lives could be saved because of it. Today, in the closing ceremony of the SKIMS annual festival, I would also like to make a request to all of you. I feel that the medical community has to further strengthen and enrich the health sector with its knowledge, innovation and research for 21st century India. How much more can we promote patient-centric healthcare so that society and the country can move forward with renewed self-confidence and create a new chapter? I urge you to consider how to work with the goal of health equity so that everyone, regardless of their location or economic status, can receive better health services and ensure that it is not just a treatment for illness, but also a multidisciplinary approach to the physical, mental, and social well-being of the individual. I am deeply grateful to all of you. The remarkable strides you have achieved in healthcare certainly makes us all proud. SKIMS premier institution stands proudly in the country today, the Lieutenant Governor added.
