Kashmir, January 30,2026- Aru Valley, Jammu & Kashmir: Skiers and local youth in Aru Valley have appealed to the administration to develop tourism and sports infrastructure, highlighting the area’s potential as an emerging skiing destination in South Kashmir.
Situated at an altitude of approximately 7,920 feet, Aru Valley has recently received substantial snowfall, providing favorable conditions for winter sports. Local skiers pointed out that the valley’s terrain and natural landscape are ideal for skiing, but the absence of basic infrastructure forces many enthusiasts to travel to Gulmarg, the more established ski hub.
The youth requested that the government facilitate ski equipment, training programs, and safety measures to encourage winter sports in the region. They emphasized that promoting skiing in Aru Valley could boost eco-tourism, generate employment opportunities for local youth, and strengthen the region’s position as a destination for adventure sports.
Officials said the proposal would be examined, noting that developing infrastructure in Aru Valley aligns with broader efforts to enhance tourism and sports activities in Jammu & Kashmir.
