Singer Roopkumar in Poonch gives Kashmiri girl the platform to sing for the Defence Forces

In Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir, a musical evening was organised with playback singer Roopkumar Rathod singing for the Defence Forces. It was heartening to see our Indian Defence Force personnel enjoying life’s happy moments. They deserve all our love, respect and admiration as we enjoy our peace, they stress out to keep that peace together for us, often by sacrificing their lives in encounters, wars, terror attacks, skirmishes, or accidents. Singer Roopkumar sang the iconic song “Sandeshen aatein hain, Hamey tadpaatay hain”. The programme was arranged as part of the celebration for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The singer expressed that the presence of the defence recruits created an amazing ambience. He was happy to see that Hindus and Muslims were connected to each other. He wished that this bond spreads to the whole of India so that India truly becomes a ‘sone ki chidiya’.

The singer gave a chance to Shazia Akhter, a local resident to sing this song which talks about letter arriving from the soldier to family members. Sometimes the letter bears good message, sometimes it carries bad news. Shazia performed on the stage along with the singer and was ecstatic as she saw this gesture as a move respecting a girl and is hopeful that girls’ rights in Kashmir will be respected in future too. This will also bring out the talents present in Kashmiri women. She believes in the slogan of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and thinks it is fulfilling the rights and entitlements due to a girl.
