Rajouri, January 20,2026-In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, CRPF officer Simran Balato from Rajouri is set to create history by leading an all-male Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) contingent at the upcoming Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
Simran Balato’s selection to command the contingent is being hailed as a significant milestone in the journey towards gender equality in the armed forces. Her leadership role reflects the growing presence and recognition of women officers in India’s security forces, breaking long-standing stereotypes in a traditionally male-dominated domain.
Officials said that the officer has undergone rigorous training and preparation to lead the contingent, which will march on the iconic Kartavya Path on January 26. Her appointment underlines the CRPF’s commitment to professionalism, merit, and inclusivity.
Hailing from Rajouri district, Simran Balato’s achievement has inspired widespread pride across Jammu and Kashmir. Senior officers described her as disciplined, dedicated, and capable, noting that her leadership at the national parade will motivate young women to aspire for careers in uniformed services.
The Republic Day Parade, which showcases India’s military strength, cultural diversity, and constitutional values, will this year also send out a powerful message of women empowerment and equal opportunity.
Simran Balato’s role at the parade stands as a testament to changing times, where leadership is defined by ability and commitment rather than gender. Her achievement is expected to encourage more young women from Jammu and Kashmir to join the armed forces and serve the nation with courage and confidence.
