Silent Tribute: Honouring Pahalgam attack victims at Srinagar business meeting

SRINAGAR, April 25, 2025 – A high-level meeting involving various business stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir commenced with a poignant two-minute silence to honour the 26 lives lost in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025. The solemn tribute, held in Srinagar, reflected a moment of unity, grief, and resolve to stand against terrorism in the Union Territory.

The attack, which targeted tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, has sent shockwaves across the region, impacting tourism and local businesses. The meeting, attended by prominent industry leaders, government officials, and trade representatives, aimed to address the economic repercussions of the attack and discuss measures to restore confidence in Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector.

The two-minute silence symbolised solidarity with the victims’ families and a collective commitment to ensuring safety and stability in the region. Discussions following the tribute focused on enhancing security protocols for tourist destinations, supporting affected businesses, and promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a safe travel destination despite the recent tragedy.

The Pahalgam attack, one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama strike, has prompted calls for stronger counter-terrorism measures. Stakeholders emphasized the need for collaboration between the government, security forces, and the business community to prevent future incidents and rebuild trust among tourists.

The meeting also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, to address security concerns. Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi met both leaders to discuss the attack and its broader implications, reinforcing a unified approach to tackling terrorism.
