Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, September 8, 2025: Shri Rohit Bhat, Festival Director of The International Film Festival of Srinagar (TIFFS), met with Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan to discuss preparations for the upcoming third edition of the prestigious film festival, scheduled for September 30 to October 1, 2025, at Tagore Hall in Srinagar. Organized by RIFK Entertainment and supported by Vomedh as a cultural partner, TIFFS aims to position Srinagar on the global map of international film festivals while celebrating Kashmir’s cinematic heritage and talent.
During the meeting, Bhat briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the festival’s objectives, highlighting its role in showcasing global cinema and promoting local filmmakers. The third edition will feature categories such as Best Feature Film, Best Web Series, Best Short Film, and Best Documentary, with cash awards ranging from INR 5,000 to INR 8,000, along with mementos and certificates to encourage talent, particularly from Jammu and Kashmir.
The festival has previously attracted entries from over 50 countries, reflecting its growing international stature.Lieutenant Governor Sinha expressed support for TIFFS, emphasizing its alignment with J&K’s progressive film policy, which includes incentives for filmmakers, a single-window portal, and the operationalization of cinema halls in Kashmir. He reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a vibrant film ecosystem, noting, “Cinema is a vital element of soft power, and TIFFS plays a crucial role in showcasing J&K’s cultural richness and talent to the world.”
The meeting underscored TIFFS’s significance as a platform for bridging Kashmir’s scenic beauty and artistic potential with the global film industry. Past editions have been graced by Bollywood luminaries like B. Subhash, Subhash Kapoor, Atul Tiwari, and Mushtaq Kak, with the second edition dedicated to the legendary Dev Anand.Bhat, alongside his brother Rakesh Roshan Bhat, leads TIFFS with a vision to nurture local talent and attract international filmmakers to J&K’s picturesque locations. The upcoming festival is expected to further enhance Srinagar’s reputation as a hub for cinematic excellence.
