Shri Amarnathji Shrine begins final journey

The ‘Chhari Mubarak,’ the revered sacred mace of Lord Shiva, has embarked on its annual journey to the Amarnath cave shrine, marking a significant moment as the 2024 Amarnath Yatra approaches its conclusion. The sacred procession began early in the morning from the Dashnami Akhara Temple in Srinagar, amidst elaborate security measures and the echo of devotional chants that filled the air with spiritual fervor. Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of the ‘Chhari Mubarak,’ led the procession and addressed the media at Lalchowk, detailing the journey’s itinerary. According to Mahant Giri, the mace will travel to Pahalgam in South Kashmir by evening, where it will stay overnight. Over the following days, the procession will continue its sacred voyage through Chandanwari, Sheshnag, and Panchtarni, with planned overnight stops at each location for performing pooja rituals. The journey is set to culminate at the Amarnath cave shrine on August 19, coinciding with the auspicious occasions of Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan. Mahant Giri highlighted that August 14 marks Shravan Shukal Paksh Dashami, adding further significance to the journey. This annual pilgrimage, which began on June 29 via the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, has witnessed a remarkable turnout this year, with over 500,000 devotees having visited the holy cave shrine in the Kashmir Himalayas to date. The ‘Chhari Mubarak’ procession is a profound symbol of devotion and spiritual reverence, marking the conclusion of the Amarnath Yatra. It underscores the enduring faith of countless devotees and the significance of this sacred pilgrimage in the spiritual landscape of India.
