Reasi, July 14, 2025 – The Shrawan Mahotsav 2025 commenced with immense devotional fervor at the revered Shiv Khori cave shrine in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, as Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, Vice Chairperson of the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB), inaugurated the festival on the first Monday of the sacred Sawan month. The air echoed with chants of “Om Namah Shivaya” and “Har Har Mahadev” as thousands of devotees thronged the shrine to offer prayers and perform Jalabhishek at the naturally formed Shivling.The festival began with a vibrant Kavad Yatra, organized by the SSKSB in collaboration with the Department of Tourism. Devotees, adorned with traditional attire and carrying decorated Kavads, embarked on a spiritual journey from the Darshani Deodi at Ransoo Base Camp to the holy cave.

The Rudrabhishek ritual was conducted inside the Shiv Khori cave, followed by a sacred Hawan at the Hawan Kund Bhawan, attended by DC Nidhi Malik and other dignitaries, amplifying the spiritual aura.The district administration ensured a seamless pilgrimage experience with robust security, crowd management, and essential facilities. Devotees were encouraged to adhere to safety protocols to maintain the sanctity and smooth conduct of the rituals.
The Shrawan Mahotsav, spanning from July 11 to August 9, will feature weekly cultural and religious events every Monday until August 4, including Kavad Yatras, a Shiv Puran Katha from July 27 to August 4, and a Bhajan Sandhya on August 4, enriching the spiritual experience for pilgrims.Sawan, or Shravan, is a sacred month dedicated to Lord Shiva, with Sawan Somwars holding special significance for devotees seeking blessings for peace, prosperity, and spiritual growth. The Shiv Khori shrine, a prominent pilgrimage site in Jammu and Kashmir, continues to draw thousands for its divine ambiance and religious importance.
