JK B RSETI – Jammu & Kashmir Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute, is an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to impart training and skill up-gradation of rural youth geared towards entrepreneurship development in the district Shopian. Nayeema Akhter, from Shopian used to sit at home, the only thing she did was to do housework. Then she came to know about RSETI and she came to the institute at Shopian.
She was asked to fill a form and then as a Trainee she was informed about how to do the job. Fozia Farooq, a trainee says she learnt about this centre where many skills are taught.
She thought she should also learn some skill while studying. There are more than 50 skill training courses such as woman tailoring. If anyone is interested in any skill, they can come and join RSETI, says Fozia. We request the youth whether educated or uneducated to come here and learn one or more skills. Likewise, another trainee at RSETI, Asma Rasheed has learnt woman tailoring here. She is happy to have taken up her skill training at RSETI. Classes are held here on soft and hard skills as well. Asma says, this is a big opportunity and we girls need to grab it.
The programmes are being held in rural areas under the ministry of rural development, government of India to make the girls self-independent. The Rural Self Employment Training Institute is giving space to all the educated youth in Shopian. A batch of many hundred students have passed out who are giving their best to their families.
There is huge unemployment across India including Jammu & Kashmir. The Jammu & Kashmir Bank has taken this initiative to give skill training to the unemployed youth who then go on to become small entrepreneurs by establishing their own business units.
With such initiatives, many girls in Shopian are counting on their success by establishing their own tailoring and cutting units in the near future.
