JAMMU, AUGUST 12: Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, presided over a public darbar at Community Hall Gurha Brahmana East of block Akhnoor today during which she addressed wide range of public concerns and developmental issues.
The Darbar witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals who raised matters related to social welfare benefits, particularly those affecting the elderly and differently-abled.
While interacting with the locals, the Commissioner Secretary provided a detailed explanation of Social Welfare schemes and their eligibility criteria. “We encourage locals to bring forward both individual and public issues,” she said, underscoring the administration’s commitment to public welfare.
She addressed several issues on the spot and issued instructions for matters requiring further deliberation. “All major and routine issues have been noted and will be addressed systematically,” she stated, assuring all the public delegations that their issues and grievances will be addressed on priority.
During interaction with Commissioner Secretary, the public commended the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission works while also voicing some grievances. Concerns about hand pump functionality and groundwater projects were brought to attention, along with power-related issues including smart meters and curtailment schedules. Youth welfare and entrepreneurship support emerged as key topics of discussion. The public also requested the upgradation of local health and education facilities.
DDC Member Bhalwal Brahmana highlighted additional concerns, including irrigation facilities, staff augmentation in essential government services and flood control measures.
The Commissioner Secretary assured the participants that their issues and genuine grievances will be addressed on priority.
