Sharda Diwas or Sharda Mata Yatra is an annual religious yatra that had been happening till 1948 in Teetwal, Kupwara in Jammu & Kashmir. The J&K Hindus had special attachment with this journey, said Ravindra Pandita, Member Seva Sharda Committee. After its closure in 1948, since then our struggle has been continuous till 2023 to open Sharda Teerth for yatra. We have sought LoC permit for religious yatra under Ministry of External Affairs. The original Sharda mandir which was running till 1947 was opened in the first Navratra by Home Minister Amit Shah and in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha. After Navratra, this is the first such yatra. We have our rights on both sides of religious places. That side of Pakistan is also Kashmir said Ravindra Pandita. Allow us to do religious movement and conferences in small groups. We request that side government too to stop terrorism. We should be allowed to live to the fullest. We have our rights to religion, right to pilgrimage on both sides, said Ravindra Pandita. And that is the most important thing to preserve our ancient culture and heritage. Many people participated from the country for this yatra. Thirty people came from NCR informed a female yatri. We are fortunate to have participated in the Ma ki yatra. It is heartwarming to see brotherhood and love here. Everyone should come here. The feeling is just out-of-the-world. One side is Pakistan and the other is India. Even PoK is ours, so we pray to Sharda Mata that our people join us soon. We hope that next year we are able to travel that side where Mata is sitting.
