Sewing, Dairy, Mushroom: Govt Schemes Power Women’s Self-Reliance in Kashmir I searched for the government schemes on my mobile. And I started my work. I got a sewing machine for Rs 50,000. Now I do sewing work and am able to run the household. There are five other girls working with me and they are earning too apart from me. We are very grateful to the Government for these schemes to uplift women. These schemes are for poor people like us. We can take good advantage of these schemes. I request my sisters and mothers who are sitting idle at home and not working, to take advantage of these schemes. I am grateful to the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and my maa’m who told us about the scheme and which is giving us a lot of benefit. For one unit of dairy farming we got two cows and Rs 90,000 as subsidy. We got a lot of benefit from this. My parents taught us till 10th class. After that I was sitting idle at home. With the cows, my unemployment was removed, another woman said. We are grateful to the government for these schemes. I too was sitting idle at home and that was not helping me in any way. The moment we got associated with these government schemes, it has helped us in many ways. We statrted a mushroom unit. And the unit helped in providing employment to other women too.
