Our langar service at Baltal has been serving the devotees of Amarnath yatra for the past 25 years. We are from Delhi and have been coming here for the past 31 years. We start preparations from 4am with hot water, breakfast, lunch, dinner. Even in the middle of the night our langar is open for the yatris. We even help in providing beds, medicines, blankets, quilts, as all these are available with us, said the langar organiser. Since the time the Shrine Board came into existence, the yatra has become smooth and easy. Our sewa workers are from Delhi, Punjab, Agra and UP. People join for the sewa service. Those who serve in the langar for one yatra want to come again to do the sewa. That sewa is cost free. They do it on their own will, said the langar organiser. It’s a lot of fun working here every year, said the sewadars. We wait every year for the yatra to commence. We do the sewa in a happy mood. Today is Eid and we are celebrating here waiting for yatris to come for the darshan of Baba Amarnath, said a sewadar. The yatra is going to start on July 1st. We came here on the 25th for sanitation work. We remove the garbage and clean the toilets regularly. We are always standing at the service of the yatris. We left Eid celebrations with our families today to serve the Amarnath yatris. We kept our family away from us to take care of the yatra. Making our guests happy will keep us happy. We are hoping that travellers come in great numbers to see the holy cave and shivling darshan. We are happy about this and they (travellers) are also happy. Brotherhood should stay, that is the most important thing, said the selfless workers.
