UDHAMPUR, MAY 15: On 2nd day of the three- day annual Shiv-Parvati Moungri Mela, thousands of visitors and devotees from within and outside the district thronged the Mela site and paid their obeisance to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
To entertain the pilgrim-visitors and further strengthen mutual love and understanding amongst different sections of the society, a scintillating cultural programme was presented by the DIPR Udhampur in collaboration with the Cultural Wing of DIPR J&K.
Local and Information Department artists and students enthralled the visitors at the event, also attended by PO Poshan Subash Dogra, DDC Councillor, Jasvir Singh, Mela Officer Tehsildar Moungri, Arushi Sabharwal and other officers.
Another attraction was rural sports activities organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports in collaboration with the Education Department.
The district administration has made adequate arrangements of water, electricity, healthcare, security, transport etc. for the successful conduct of the mela.
A number of temporary sweet shops, toy shops and other edibles corners put up by the locals as well as outside vendors were the main attraction for the general public visiting the Mela site. During the Mela, checking of rates and quality of eatables is strictly maintained by a team of officers.
On the sidelines, the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Field Office organised a Painting/ Drawing Competition for the students from adjacent schools.
Later, the prizes were given away among the participants of the event.
