Satish Sharma visits NABARD J&K regional office, emphasizes outcome-based program implementation

Jammu, December 10 – Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and ARI & Trainings, visited the Jammu & Kashmir Regional Office of NABARD today. During his visit, Sharma was briefed on the various developmental initiatives undertaken by NABARD to enhance the socio-economic conditions of rural communities in J&K.

The Minister was welcomed by Bhallamudi Sridhar, Chief General Manager (CGM) of NABARD, along with Deputy General Manager Urmil Lata, General Manager Vikas Mittal, and other senior officials.

In his interaction with the NABARD team, Sharma was apprised of the ongoing projects and the positive impact they have had on the region. He commended NABARD’s efforts in transforming the rural landscape of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly through its focus on sustainable development.

The Minister reviewed the effectiveness of NABARD’s interventions, stressing the importance of ensuring that these programs deliver tangible outcomes. He emphasised the need for scaling up efforts to guarantee last-mile connectivity and greater reach to remote areas. In this regard, Sharma called for a sharper focus on outcome-based implementation to ensure that development initiatives achieve their desired objectives.

Sharma also assured full support from the Jammu & Kashmir Government to NABARD’s initiatives, underscoring the critical role the institution plays in the holistic development of the region.

Earlier in the day, Sonika Rana, Assistant General Manager of NABARD, presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the organisation’s ongoing projects, as well as future prospects and opportunities for further development in J&K.

Sharma’s visit highlighted the collaborative efforts required to drive sustainable development and foster socio-economic growth in the region, with a renewed emphasis on ensuring that projects are impactful and reach the grassroots level.
