Srinagar, April 20, 2025: As preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 gain momentum, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk on Sunday. The visit focused on ensuring robust arrangements for the smooth and safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage, set to commence on July 3, 2025, and conclude on August 9, 2025.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Aadil Fareed and senior district officials, DC Srinagar meticulously reviewed the infrastructure and facilities at the Pantha Chowk Transit Camp, a critical stopover for pilgrims traveling to the revered Amarnath cave shrine. The inspection extended to the Yatra Bhawan, where the DC assessed amenities such as lodging, sanitation, and medical facilities to ensure they meet the needs of the yatries (pilgrims).
Dr. Bhat issued clear directives to officers to expedite preparations and ensure all arrangements are in place well ahead of the yatra. Emphasizing pilgrim comfort, he stressed the need for seamless coordination among departments to enhance services at the camp. Special attention was given to the setup of Langars (community kitchens) to provide nutritious meals and the availability of clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities.
With SANJY-2025 expected to see a significant influx of devotees, the administration is prioritizing infrastructure upgrades. The DC reviewed plans to increase lodgement capacity at Pantha Chowk and other key locations like Baltal and Pahalgam. He also inspected the readiness of Yatri facilitation centres, which will handle critical services such as e-KYC verification, RFID card distribution, and on-spot registration to streamline the pilgrimage process.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, a 52-day spiritual journey to the 3,880-meter-high cave shrine, is a cornerstone of faith for millions. Pilgrims will access the shrine via the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, with the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board facilitating registrations through its website and over 540 bank branches nationwide.
DC Srinagar’s hands-on approach reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-organised pilgrimage. As SANJY-2025 approaches, further efforts are underway to bolster facilities and ensure a memorable experience for all yatries.
