Sakeena Itoo: Strong foundations in education key to building future India

Srinagar, November 1,2025: Senior leader and former Minister Sakeena Itoo reiterated the government’s strong commitment to strengthening the foundational education system in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasising that early childhood and primary education form the backbone of a progressive and inclusive society.

Speaking at an education awareness programme in South Kashmir, Sakeena Itoo highlighted the need for holistic reforms in school infrastructure, teacher training, and learning outcomes to ensure that every child receives quality education from the ground up.

“The government is focused on building a robust foundational education system that equips children with essential literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Strengthening primary education is crucial to creating a knowledgeable and skilled generation capable of contributing to the nation’s growth,” she said.

Sakeena Itoo also underlined the importance of community participation and parental involvement in the learning process, noting that education is a shared responsibility. “Teachers, parents, and society must work together to create an environment where every child can learn, dream, and achieve,” she added.

She lauded the initiatives under the National Education Policy 2020, which stress on foundational literacy and numeracy , integration of technology in classrooms, and equal access to quality education for both rural and urban students.

The leader urged education departments to prioritize capacity-building programmes for teachers, particularly in rural areas, and to ensure that modern teaching methods and digital learning tools reach every government school.

“The vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 cannot be realised without empowering the youngest learners,” Sakeena Itoo emphasised, adding that investment in foundational education is an investment in the nation’s future.
