Srinagar, June 13,2026- Bollywood actor and producer Saif Ali Khan’s recent visit to Kaman Post along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Uri sector has generated excitement among local residents and tourism stakeholders, who believe the high-profile visit could significantly boost the region’s emerging border tourism industry.
Located on the banks of the Jhelum River and known as the last Indian military post before Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Kaman Post has emerged as one of Uri’s most popular tourist attractions in recent years. The scenic destination, which also features the iconic Aman Setu (Peace Bridge), attracts visitors eager to experience the frontier landscape and learn about the region’s unique historical significance.
Local residents said Saif Ali Khan’s visit has brought national attention to a destination that remains relatively unexplored by mainstream tourists despite its breathtaking natural beauty and strategic importance.
“Whenever a celebrity visits a place like Kaman Post, people across the country become curious about it. We have already started receiving inquiries from tourists after news of his visit spread,” said a local tour operator in Uri.
Tourism stakeholders believe the actor’s presence at the border destination will help showcase a different side of Kashmir beyond the traditional tourist hotspots of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar.
“Kaman Post has tremendous tourism potential. It offers visitors a unique blend of history, geography and patriotism in one location. Saif Ali Khan’s visit has highlighted this destination before a wider audience,” said Abrar Ahmad, a civil society member.
Officials involved in tourism promotion echoed similar sentiments, noting that celebrity visits often serve as catalysts for attracting new visitors and increasing destination awareness.
“Border tourism in Uri has witnessed steady growth over the last few years. High-profile visits help create awareness and encourage travellers to explore lesser-known destinations. Such exposure is valuable for local businesses and the overall tourism economy,” an official said.
The opening of several frontier locations for tourism, combined with improved road connectivity, has helped Uri emerge as a preferred destination for travellers seeking offbeat experiences. Kaman Post, in particular, has become increasingly popular among tourists interested in viewing the LoC from close quarters and understanding the area’s historical and geopolitical significance.
Local traders and entrepreneurs are hopeful that the actor’s visit will result in increased tourist footfall during the ongoing travel season.
“For us, every additional visitor matters. More tourists mean better business for transporters, hotels, restaurants and local vendors. If a celebrity visit helps put Uri on the tourism map, it benefits the entire region,” said Sadiq Ahmad, a shopkeeper in Uri town.
As photographs and reports of Saif Ali Khan’s visit continue to circulate across social media platforms, residents remain optimistic that the attention will encourage more travellers to venture beyond conventional destinations and discover the unique attractions of Kashmir’s border belt.
For many in Uri, the actor’s brief stop at Kaman Post represents more than just a celebrity visit—it is an opportunity to showcase the region’s rich history, scenic beauty and growing tourism potential to visitors from across the country.
