‘Sahi Rasta’ leading the children of Kashmir on the right path

An interaction with the youth on completion of six batches of “Sahi Rasta” was organised. In Jammu & Kashmir. The interaction programme organised by the Army and the Civil Administration takes care of children’s happiness, living requirements, play needs and their health. The children who are addicted to drugs stay on this programme for 21 days and the mentors groom them and train them, says Shafat Ali Sheikh, Mentor & Placement Coordinator at Tangmarg, Baramulla. The vision of this programme is to achieve the dream of ‘Naya Kashmir’. We learnt many ways how to lead our lives, says Syed Danish Jeelani, a participant at ‘Sahi Rasta’. There are always two paths, the good and the bad. We are getting clear guidance here. Through this guidance we are getting a chance to lead our life in the right way.. ‘Sahi Rasta’ programme has been able to give direction to children who had gone astray. The programme mentors are getting a good, positive response from the children. So far, 150 youth have participated in this programme. Major General SS Slaria, GOC Counter Insurgency Force Kilo said, the changes which have come in these children, we are very happy about it. We just hope that no youth goes on the wrong path. At the programme, the participants are taught lessons about life and history, and ethos of Kashmir and the tenets of Islam. The programme also gives placements to children. Programmes like this are bringing a decisive change in Kashmir and the youth are transforming to lead better lives.
