Srinagar, October 31, 2025 – In a vibrant display of unity in motion and pride in every stride, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the Run for Unity from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to the picturesque Botanical Garden on the banks of Dal Lake today, marking Rashtriya Ekta Diwas(National Unity Day). The event, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, saw hundreds of participants – including students, athletes, officials, and local residents – come together to spread the timeless message of togetherness, national harmony, and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. The run, a flagship initiative of the nationwide celebrations, commenced with LG Sinha administering the Unity Pledge to the enthusiastic crowd, reaffirming commitments to national integration, brotherhood, and collective progress. “Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India inspires us to run not just for fitness, but for the soul of our nation,” Sinha remarked, emphasising how such events embody the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat. This Srinagar edition echoed similar enthusiasm seen in previous years, but carried heightened significance on Patel’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Officials noted the overwhelming turnout as a testament to Jammu and Kashmir’s evolving narrative of harmony and development. “Every step today is a stride towards a stronger, more united India,” said a young participant from a local college, highlighting the run’s role in fostering youth engagement. As the runners reached the Botanical Garden finish line amid cheers and cultural performances, the event underscored Patel’s enduring legacy as the architect of modern India. LG Sinha’s participation not only boosted morale but also reinforced J&K’s commitment to national unity amid its unique journey towards progress and self-reliance.The Run for Unity in Srinagar joins a chorus of nationwide tributes, including unity pledges at Raj Bhawan and educational programs, all aimed at honoring the Iron Man while building a future rooted in solidarity.
