Banihal, July 20,2026- Renowned endurance runner Sufiya Sufi from Ajmer, Rajasthan, reached Banihal as part of her ambitious “Run for Dream – Kanyakumari to Karakoram” expedition, carrying a message of fitness, patriotism, and national unity across India.
Speaking during her stop in Banihal, Sufiya dedicated her extraordinary journey to the Indian Army, expressing gratitude for the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation. She said her run is aimed at inspiring people, especially the youth, to adopt a healthy lifestyle while fostering a spirit of unity and respect for the country’s defenders.
Sufiya revealed that she has successfully completed 76 days of her expedition and has covered nearly 5,000 kilometres since beginning her journey from Kanyakumari. She described the experience as physically demanding but deeply fulfilling, with enthusiastic support from people across different states motivating her to continue.
This marks Sufiya Sufi’s sixth long-distance world run, further strengthening her reputation as one of India’s leading endurance athletes. Through her marathon expeditions, she has consistently promoted women’s empowerment, fitness awareness, environmental consciousness, and national integration.
Her arrival in Banihal, a key gateway to the Kashmir Valley, was welcomed by locals and supporters, who appreciated her dedication and determination. Sufiya reiterated that her mission extends beyond breaking records—it is about encouraging people to embrace fitness, dream big, and contribute positively to society.
