RTO Enforcement Teams conduct enforcement drives in Jammu

JAMMU, JULY 30: In a bid to improve road safety and ensure compliance with transport regulations, the enforcement teams of Regional Transport Office (RTO) Jammu conducted a thorough vehicle enforcement drives during the last four days.
The enforcement drives covered over 450 vehicles, focusing on key compliance areas including Speed limiting Devices (SLDs), Overloading in Passenger Vehicles, emission violations, vehicle fitness violations and documentation related violations. “SLD being one of the most important factor particularly in passenger Vehicles to avoid overspeeding, was checked in Mini-Buses, Buses, Taxi/Maxi Cabs and violators were booked accordingly under the provisions of M.V. Act and Rules framed thereunder.
Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO, Jammu said that our goal is to ensure all vehicles meet safety standards to protect commuters, drivers as well as pedestrians. Our recent enforcement drives underscores our commitment to this cause, he added.
The enforcement drives resulted in detecting 121 violations and e-Challans /penalties were issued accordingly. A fine of Rs. 126400 (Rupees One Lac Twenty Six Thousand & Four Hundred) was imposed on violators during these drives. In addition to issuing e-Challans, the overload Passenger Vehicles were offloaded on spot and alternate vehicles were arranged for the extra passengers for their respective destinations. The RTO teams will continue to conduct regular enforcement drives to uphold road safety standards. Moreover public/commuters were encouraged to report any malpractice with the Motor Vehicle Department during these drives.
The enforcement teams comprised of Mrs. Rehana Tabassam, ARTO (HQr), Mudasir Iqbal, ARTO (B.O.I-G), Kuldeep Singh, ARTO (B.O.I-P) Motor Vehicles Inspectors, Vikas Srivats, Surinder Kumar, Jasbir Singh, Jagandeep Singh, SMVI, Amanish Sharma and Tarunjot Singh (MVTA).
