Srinagar, November 24,2025: The revival of Drung Eco Village, a popular winter tourist attraction in Tangmarg, is set to give a major boost to Kashmir’s tourism sector, according to Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon, Chairman of the J&K Houseboat Association.
The destination, known for its frozen waterfalls and scenic winter charm, had been closed due to heightened security concerns following the Pahalgam terror attack. Its reopening is being hailed as a welcome development by the tourism fraternity.
Pakhtoon stated that reopening Drung Eco Village is not only crucial for economic revival and employment generation but also reflects an environment of improving peace and strengthened security in the region. “The move reassures tourists, local stakeholders, and security forces alike,” he said.
Tour operators and local traders anticipate a significant rise in footfall as winter tourism picks up. Drung’s return to the tourism map is expected to further enhance Kashmir’s appeal as a premier winter destination.
