Reasi farmers welcome fertilizer subsidy boost ahead of Kharif season

Reasi, April 9, 2026- Farmers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district have welcomed the Centre’s approval of the Nutrient-Based Subsidy on fertilizers, saying the move will provide much-needed relief ahead of the Kharif sowing season.

The farmers noted that the subsidy will significantly reduce input costs, making fertilizers more affordable and accessible. With rising prices of agricultural inputs in recent years, the decision is expected to ease the financial burden on small and marginal farmers.

Local cultivators said the timely support will help ensure better crop planning and improved productivity during the upcoming Kharif season. They expressed optimism that affordable fertilizers will lead to higher yields and strengthen the region’s agricultural output.

Officials stated that the Nutrient-Based Subsidy scheme aims to promote balanced use of fertilizers while ensuring their availability at reasonable prices to farmers across the country.

The development is being seen as a positive step towards supporting the farming community and boosting rural livelihoods in the region.
