Ramban, November 25: In a powerful display of community spirit and social awareness, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO) Ramban, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare (DSWO), organized a marathon to promote the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign on Monday. The event also emphasized the importance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Substance Abuse-Free India) initiative, aiming to combat substance abuse while advocating for gender equality and the empowerment of girls.
More than just a race, the marathon symbolized a collective step toward building a society that values and empowers its daughters. It also highlighted the importance of physical fitness as a tool for fostering discipline, resilience, and a healthier lifestyle. The marathon served as a platform to raise awareness, unite communities, and inspire participants to adopt responsible behaviors while addressing critical social issues.
The event attracted enthusiastic participants from across the region. In the men’s category, Akshay Sharma from Udhampur claimed the first position, followed by Ritik Sharma from Kathua in second place, and Pritam Kumar from Ramban in third. In the women’s category, Samta Devi from Ramban took the top spot, with Rimpy Devi from Katra securing second place and Shruti Devi from Ramban finishing third.
The marathon was a celebration of youth talent and strength, underscoring the importance of educating and empowering girls. By integrating the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the event raised awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, encouraging participants, especially the youth, to pursue healthier and more meaningful lives.
Speaking on the occasion, DSWO Rahul Gupta emphasized, “Empowering girls is not just a mission; it is a collective responsibility that paves the way for a brighter and more inclusive future. Through initiatives like these, we aim to nurture talent and instill values that contribute to holistic growth and societal harmony.”
This successful collaboration between DYSSO and DSWO Ramban reflects the district administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering a progressive and inclusive society. Events like these serve as a beacon of hope, ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, to thrive and succeed.
