Ramban, December 2,2025 — Beekeeper farmers from Ramban, Jammu & Kashmir have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for highlighting Sulai Honey, a GI-tagged, wild basil–based honey renowned for its unique flavor and medicinal properties.
Sulai Honey, sourced from the pristine forests of Ramban, is derived from the nectar of wild basil plants. The honey has recently gained recognition for its distinct aroma, health benefits, and natural purity, making it a valuable product for local farmers and the regional economy.
Local beekeeper associations stated that the Prime Minister’s mention has provided a major boost to the honey sector in J&K, creating new opportunities for marketing, branding, and value addition. Farmers also emphasized that increased visibility for GI-tagged honey will help strengthen the livelihoods of rural communities engaged in beekeeping.
Experts noted that Ramban’s Sulai Honey is not only a high-quality natural product but also a promising avenue for export potential, benefiting small-scale beekeepers and promoting sustainable agriculture practices in the region.
