Rajouri mobile passport camp brings services home

Rajouri, March 24,2026- In a significant step towards improving citizen services, a three-day Mobile Passport Van Camp has been launched at the DC Office Complex in Rajouri, bringing passport facilities directly to the people. The initiative is benefiting residents from both Rajouri and Poonch districts, especially those who face difficulties traveling to Jammu for passport-related work.

The camp, organized in collaboration with the Passport Seva Project, is offering a range of on-the-spot services including new passport applications, document verification, and biometric data collection. Officials said the initiative aims to streamline the process and reduce delays, ensuring greater accessibility for citizens in remote and border areas.

On the first day, the camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with a large number of applicants turning up early to avail the facility. Authorities have made necessary arrangements to manage the rush efficiently, including token systems and help desks to assist applicants with documentation and procedures.

Local residents have welcomed the move, calling it a much-needed relief. Many applicants expressed satisfaction with the hassle-free process, noting that the mobile service has saved them both time and travel expenses.

Officials stated that such outreach programmes are part of the government’s broader push to enhance public service delivery and ensure that essential facilities reach every corner of the region. If successful, similar camps may be organized in other remote districts in the future.
